For the 14th BHM Mix we are lucky to welcome Delfonic. He has inspired us with his musical taste, way of working, humbleness and being all there. He prepared a mix for us with his definition of House Music. But that is not the only thing we want to share here. We are also very lucky to share the chat (Interview) we had with him about Music and the House Music scene in Berlin including tips for upcoming DJs, producers and labels. Check out the interview Here.
With a history in digging and an unquestionable love for music, Markus Lindner, a.k.a. Delfonic, is as versatile and informed a DJ as they come. Delfonic applies his broad knowledge of music styles to almost any setting, and is renowned for blending multiple genres, eras and disciplines throughout his sets. An open-minded talent, with an uncompromising approach to DJing, he employs a style schooled from an upbringing in hip-hop. Delfonic is the model DJ – he’ll warm the crowd up, get them dancing and then provide the scope and context that will keep the heads on board.
It all began back in 2006 when OYE Records’ Tinko offered him a chance to DJ at Roter Salon, after he caught on to Delfonic’s refined and yet unique taste while shopping at the store. It didn’t take long for him to work his way across to the other side of the counter, eventually becoming one of the store’s partners. Now with two outlets, one in Prenslauer Berg and the other in Neukölln, OYE has become an established outlet for disco, soul, house, hip-hop and more, as well as being a home for organic DJ talent that garnered a deserved reputation throughout the European clubbing circuit.
As a champion of new music and sounds, Delfonic has been setting new trends within today’s modern music scene. He’s the man behind the labels Box aus Holz, Torben and Money $ex Records, and is responsible for bringing some of today’s contemporary talent into the limelight, including Max Graeff, Glenn Astro, Alex Seidel and more. A mainstay at cult Berlin venue ICON from 2006 until its demise in 2011, Delfonic now holds down residencies OHM and Club Gretchen while frequenting the capital’s leading venues Salon zur wilden Renate and Panorama Bar.
More recently, Delfonic was responsible for taking the OYE brand across the continent with a tour alongside Rhythm Section Records, visiting some of Europe’s more esteemed venues.
